2022-2023 Academic Year

Tuition
The Santa Barbara Festival Ballet Conservatory is more than dance classes – it is an educational institution. Tuition for the conservatory program (Standard 1- Level 10) is assessed as an annual fee. Payment for tuition for the full academic season (August 29th through June 16th) is due regardless of classes missed.

The annual fee for tuition is divided into 10 monthly installments. Tuition payments are due on the 1st of the month starting in September and ending in June. It is important to understand that your tuition payment is not covering your current month of classes, but instead you are making a payment toward your annual fee. Should you leave SBFB before the end of the term tuition is still due. Arrangements can be made to pay the full year’s tuition at the beginning of the year in 4 quarterly installments by contacting the office. Quarterly payments are due on August, November, February, and May 15th.

Conservatory students must pay a $30.00 registration fee at time of enrollment into the conservatory program and each season thereafter on September 1. The $30.00 registration fee is in addition to the annual fee for tuition.

Late fees of $15.00 are assessed for any payment more than 10 days late. Students more than 2 payments in arrears may not return to class until their account is current.

Tuition in the recreational program (creative-beginning ballet) is due on the first of each month. Adults and other classes may pay for classes as a single class or may purchase a block of 8 classes at a time.Late fees of $15.00 are assessed for any payment more than 10 days late. Students more than 2 payments in arrears may not return to class until their account is current.

Make-up lessons-Missed Classes
Please notify us when your child is ill or misses class for other reasons, especially for any prolonged absences. No refund is given for classes missed and we do not pro-rate for prolonged absences, but make-up lessons will be extended whenever possible.

Tardiness
We request that you do your utmost to have your dancer in class on time. Dancers arriving late disrupt the class, miss important information, and are not properly warmed up which puts them at risk for injury. Students arriving more than 10 minutes late may be asked to watch.
At this time students should not arrive more than 20 minutes early for class as there is no adult supervision.

Parking
There are several parking options available. SBFB has 7 spots labeled Santa Barbara Dance Center Staff parking behind the building. Please leave a spot for the teachers, otherwise parents and dancers are welcome to park there. In the two spots closest to the driveway, please park parallel to the fence.  Please do not park in the Gym spaces or the Dry Cleaner’s spaces. There is also parking on the street and one block away at Paseo Nuevo.

Evaluations
This year SBFB will initiate an in-depth process for communication and evaluation with parents and students enrolled in the Conservatory program. Student progress, how dance relates to academic pursuits, career paths in dance and dance in higher education will be discussed in these sessions. Sessions will be private, usually with more than one faculty member and will offer opportunity for feedback and discussion. Parents and students interested in participating in the evaluation process should contact the office to schedule an appointment. Students who are not enrolled in the Conservatory program may also request evaluation with their instructors

Consultations are welcomed! If you have any concerns about your dancer’s training, any upsets they may be experiencing, any thoughts you wish to express please feel free to make an appointment for a conference. I want to hear from you! You may also email me at:
