DANCE THEATRE OF HARLEM
Alexandra Hutchinson was born in Wilmington, Delaware and grew up in Washington, DC. She began dancing at the age of 3 and trained with the Wilmington Academy of Dance and the Washington School of Ballet. Her summer intensives include Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Alonzo King LINES Ballet, Carolina Ballet, Ballet Chicago, L’Academie Americaine de Danse de Paris and the Nashville Ballet. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Ballet from Indiana University. Her professional experience includes The Nashville Ballet (2017-2018) and The Dance Theatre of Harlem, where she is currently in her third season. Her repertoire includes Orange by Stanton Welch, Robert Garland’s Return and New Bach, Paul Vasterling’s Sleeping Beauty, Septime Webre’s and Michael Vernon’s versions of The Nutcracker, and George Balanchine’s Valse Fantasie, Western Symphony, Swan Lake, Concerto Barocco, Divertimento No. 15, Emeralds, Rubies, and Giselle. Ms. Hutchinson was featured on “The Ellen Show” and performed on the Starz network dramatic series, “Run The World.” She was a guest choreographer for the Columbia Ballet Collaborative’s 2021 spring semester where she staged the ballet she created entitled, “Soulbird Rise.” She co-produced the Dance Theatre of Harlem viral video, “Dancing Through Harlem” and is currently the Company’s Social Media Coordinator.

Training: Holbrook-Wade School of Dance, Fokine Ballet, New York State Summer School of the Arts with Daniel Ulbricht, NYCB, Carolyn Adams, Alvin Ailey, Nutmeg Ballet, Charlotte Ballet, Alonzo King Lines, French Academie of Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, and Springboard Danse Montreal. Graduate of Ellison Ballet, 2019.
Awards: Youth America Grand Prix in 2017 and 2018, where he and his partner won second and then first place in the Contemporary Pas de Deux category.
Professional Experience: Dance Theatre of Harlem
Emily Fugett is originally from Tinley Park Illinois, a south suburb of Chicago. She first began dancing at the age of 3, at numerous local studios. In 2012, with a love of ballet, she moved her training to Ballet Chicago under Artistic Director Daniel Duell. Emily joined their studio company where she performed in various productions and was able to work with Patricia Blair, Ted Seymour, Paul Boos, and Sandra Jennings.
Emily started her professional career with the Chicago Repertory Ballet, a contemporary ballet company. She performed under Artistic Director Wade Schaaf, as a company dancer for two seasons.
She then moved to St Louis Missouri to become a dancer with The Saint Louis Ballet under Artistic Director Gen Horiuchi. During her four seasons with the company she has had the opportunity to perform works by George Balanchine, Gen Horiuchi, Christopher Wheeldon, Brian Enos, Kameron Saunders, Tom Gold, and Emery LeCrone.
Emily cannot wait to perform as The Snow Queen in Santa Barbara Festival Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker!
Colin Ellis was born and raised in McHenry, IL, where he trained under the Judith Svalander School of Ballet for 14 years. He then attended Indiana University where he graduated with a Bachelors in Ballet Performance and Arts management. After graduating, Colin moved to Columbus Ohio to work for BalletMet under Artistic Director Edwaard Liang as a second company member. After 1 season, Colin then moved to St. Louis where he currently is enjoying his 5th season with the St. Louis Ballet under Artistic Director Gen Horiuchi. During his college and performing career so far, Colin has enjoyed performing principal roles in; George Balanchine, Merce Cunningham, Paul Taylor, Anthony Tudor, Gen Horiuchi, Tom Gold, and Brain Enos pieces as well as other roles from Christopher Wheeldon Edwaard Liang, Michael Pink, and Gustavo Ramirez Sanso. Colin is excited to be able to share his love of ballet to new audiences through guesting for Santa Barbra Festival Ballet.
